Fri, 6 October 2006 Hey guys: Did you enjoy the opening of the season? We did. Well, I did, but I didn't ask John or Andrew about it yet. I'm sure Andrew liked it. John's moved six apartments in the past three days or so, so he's been occupied and probably hasn't seen it yet. I have only one thing to say: Why did the flight split in two? Has no one questioned this yet? If Desmond's magnetic magic only attracted the plane to the Island faster, WHY two parts? There had to be forces pulling at either end of the plane for that. So are there two nexii to this weird electromagic? (Note, I know it HAPPENED, doi, we know the back of the plane blew off in season one, and knew it split around season two-ish...what I want to know is WHY. It's just not been discussed enough around my sphere, which admittedly is not very wide. A crash is one thing; cracking like an egg is quite another. It could have crashed in any machination of ways - split down the middle? Why? Why were there two forces, seems to be the question, pulling them in opposite directions?) Anyway: As you've probably gleaned, we didn't watch it together, which only means one thing: We didn't record. And we're not going to. We're sorry, guys. Totally LOST is dead. Done. Gone. Bye. We did have fun while we were doing it, but it became a real hassle to align everyone's schedules to watch it together, and then we were suddenly putting way too much effort into a series that we don't have time to put way too much effort into. We're busy people to begin with, and the whole idea of this show (which some unexcusably rude people missed, then had the irony to call others stupid in the comments) was that we would be laid back about it, won't try and read all the theories, would experience it as pure audience members. If that made us seem so "dim," sorry. Like it or not, and no matter who the writers actually write it for, LOST is indeed for people who can watch it in a one-hour-per-week commitment. The show is in real danger of alienating new audiences who can't snap on to all the lore and theories, who've never looked it up on the internet, and who shouldn't have to. If they're requiring background reading material for people's evening entertainment they're going to go downhill VERY fast. I'm willing to bet that 90 percent or more of audience members barely remember the name of the Hanso foundation, have never heard of the Lost Experience outside of those weird commercials, and think "Bad Twin" is the name of a 1970s "Days of Our Lives" episode. The idea behind Totally LOST was that we were that viewer, because an hour a week was all we could give. But guys. It turned quickly into five hours a week, between planning and scheduling and recording. And, as we said so plainly, none of us has that to give. And we do have Potter podcasts to take care of, and prioritize. And we want to just sit back and watch the show, and be regular viewers. If the test here was whether one can be a regular viewer of something one podcasts about, the answer is probably no. This blog will stay up, probably, and we might come here and squeal as the major revelations come through this year. Thanks to the 10,000 listeners, 9,950 of whom we never thought would show up. If we thought we could keep it up, we would. The truth is, I had a better time watching the opening of the show this season than I did most of last season, because I didn't have to worry about anything but watching. So who should you listen to instead of us? If you don't already, The LOST podcast with Jay and Jack: They are the collective bomb, those tow, and nice to boot. Everyone at the Totally LOST Fan Forums, you were way too nice to us all the time! And to everyone over at the Thanks, guys! See you when Benry Gale gets his face chewed off, because that'll be cause for some celebration! Later peeps, Melissa Category: general -- posted at: 11:29 AM Comments[25] |
Its okay. I was fun listening to you guys. I'd rather you guys devote your time to Potter stuff and enjoying life than working too hard on Lost stuff. Enjoy the season!! I'll check in now and again for any new posts. Peace.
PS She is not a bitch. That is a bit hypocritical to call her a bitch when a lot of people in these comments were being bitches.

well it was good while it lasted, I agree I love J&J, they really know their lost stuff, and nobodys talking about the plane splitting in 2 because everybody knew it happened at the beginning of season 2, so I guess it isnt big news. Well listen to you guys on pc and mc! bye, hopefully you'll still blog here when a new episode comes out.
Aww no way! Oh well like cathy said, it was good while it lasted, it was nice to have people who speculate for a living speculate on something besides potter, though i do indeed enjoy MuggleCast and PotterCast very much. Yeah J&J are great. Oh well, i hope you guys keep updating, perhaps even post on the forums :P

It was good while in lasted, and yes, Jay and Jack are a great podcast.
That said, I think I can honestly say you don't have any idea what you're talking regarding the internet information. The Lost stuff on the internet ONE HUNDRED PERCENT supplementary to the show. The producers of the show made it so people, if they chose to, could delve in deeper, but the information in is no way required to watch the show. You do not need to go onto the internet at ALL. For those ninety percent of people who don't remember the Hanso Foundation or don't know what Bad Twin is, it DOESN'T MATTER. That is in no way required to watch the show. It is a serialized show, though, so you have to watch every episode. This isn't CSI or Law and Order. This is Lost. So, new viewers may need to go online to catch up or if someone missed an episode. That's why it's harder for a show like Lost to pick up new viewers. But, unlike what you think, Melissa, no viewers ever need to go onto the internet, unless they like the show so much that they want to. Once again, it is all completely supplementary. The producers have already said multiple time that The Lost Experience is for fans who wanted something of Lost over the summer, and it is only extra.

Robby, you're right in that's how it's intended and tha'ts how it's MARGINALLY lasting right now. And that's how it should be. But it's in danger of tipping. Not sever danger, but danger nonetheless.
The comment was in response to someone who felt that we were soooooooooo dumb for not knowing all that stuff. To which we say: We shouldn't have to. :)

Melissa, I definately understand where you're coming from. They are getting VERY involved with the internet and such. Some people may think that's a good thing, while others think it's a bad thing. Personally, I think it's great that the producers are giving a little something extra for people who love the show enough to browse the internet. Relating that to HP, I'm sure you understand that Jo is giving something extra to her fans (with the WOMBATS and the other things on her site). Is that information crucial to the plot of the book? Of course not. It is meant to help widen one's view of the universe and to help people go through the hiatus between books.
Regardless, I enjoyed listening to Totally LOST. I hope you don't think everyone thinks you're dumb for not knowing stuff the hardcore fans know. You guys have said tons of times that you're not going to know everything, which is completely understandable, as this is basically a side project.
Thanks for doing this. Maybe you'll do a show every once and a while, just to go over what has happened in the past episodes.

Welcome to the 21st century. You all realize that what you are looking at right now, what you are using is on par with the first printing press, the first book. This media will absorb all others. This tool is the end all be all of evolution of the homo sapiens with regards to communication. We have a global village, a global tribe, when you say something you are being held accountable by not just your friends, but the entire world. I know most of you aren't used to that yet, it is fairly new, you all feel indifferent to what the World Wide Web, the network is, honestly most have no idea. Even the old fart in charge of regulating the internet thinks it’s a “series of tubes, but you need to realize we are in the middle of a HUGE, GIANT transition and evolution of our species. Again its hard to look at it from the inside, our children’s kids will understand it better, with perspective. The time we live in will be recorded by history as one of the most important eras ever. Be happy, but be careful, it is as dangerous as when the first of our ancestors picked up a sharp stick and poked someone, the world will never be the same, but for the better, I promise.
Good Night, and Good Luck.
Good Night, and Good Luck.
I salute you Melissa! *salutes Melissa* thank you for this great podcast and thank you for having the decency to let us know you were ending it. Lesser podcasts would have just not updated and let it die. and as many others have said on here: It was good while lasted
aaaw well. thanks for letting us know, as others have said. I enjoyed listening to the three of you in this context. Luckily for me and unlike Harry Potter, I have plenty of people around me to theorize with about LOST!
I, too, hope that the internet and print supplements are not going to be required for full understanding of the show. Though I enjoy them and the idea of them, I'd much rather analyze something on television! Cannon needs to have its limits!!

Thanks a bunch for everything, guys!! It was a fun podcast for the episodes that were produced. I completely understand the time commitment between PC, MC, and the LeakyMugs that meant that Totally LOST couldn't work out. I also completely understand that it is much more fun to just watch and be a fan foremost than having to worry about recording and such.
Hugs and kisses to all three of you guys!!!!

NOOOOO... My favorite LOST podcast is dead.
ohh well. I'll just have to catch up on Mugglecast.Pottercast so I can hear their lovely voices again.
It was an awesome show while it lasted and I totally understand your reasoning. I will mourn peacefully. (However, if for some reason PC or MC stopped, I would picket and protest to no end). So thank you for the fun insight you provided and "thank you and namaste"
(How creepy is it that the numbers I have to type for spam blocking are LOST numbers?)

Thanks while it lasted. I enjoyed hearing your thoughts, and spent many a night trying to convince my parents I wasn't cackling in my sleep. I hope you might get together for at least one podcast after this season maybe though... I'll content myself with listening to Pottercast and Mugglecast for now. ut if any of you decide to quit on either of those, I may actually go on strike. From what, I don't know, but i will. Thanks for the fun while it lasted!
